Calangute is one of the most popular beaches of Goa. The beach has a rich history and is resplendent with life.

There are flea markets, exotic nightlife and generous helpings of enjoyment and relaxation that draw people by hoards to this beautiful beach.

Known as the Queen of the Goa's beaches, Calangute is surrounded by the villages of Arpora-Nagoa, Saligao and Candolim. Hippies first discovered it in the 1960's. Decades later, tourists still trudge down the dusty, weather-beaten roads in search of that idyllic coastal Goa. Calangute is at the centre of the Bardez coast and is bordered by the Candolim beach to the south and Baga beach to the north.

The picture of a perfect tourist haven is completed with shacks and stalls under the shade of palm trees selling everything from fried prawns and beer to trinkets made of seashells. The rainbow hued canvas of Calangute has welcomed everyone to it always, though it became popular across the globe only after the hippies discovered it in the 60's.

The period from November to February is the best time for a visit to this beach. You can also enjoy Motorcycle riding, different water sports, Crocodile and dolphin spotting tours etc at Calangute beach.

Calangute is a rich destination for Water sports too. At the beaches you will find numerous water sport operators who can give you a time of your life. You will find everything right from body surfing to parasailing, riding water scooters or motorboats.
